Cricket

Cricket at Malvern has an enviable reputation and a proud history. Each season is played out in the delightful setting of the 'Senior' Cricket ground, in the heart of the College campus on the lower slopes of the Malvern Hills, with spectacular views (between overs!) across the Severn Vale towards the Cotswolds. The College's reputation for excellence in the game comes from the intensely hard work that goes on at 'the chalk face' virtually every afternoon of the working week. Malvern runs seven Cricket teams; four junior teams and three senior sides, and provides an extremely high level of coaching. The coaching team, led by Noel Brett - a former English Cricketer (Surrey Cricket Board) - provides constant and expert advice at nets and during matches. Former professional cricketer and Old Malvernian, Mark Hardinges (Gloucestershire CCC), is Master in charge of Cricket at Malvern, and other members of the teaching staff, who also have First Class Cricket backgrounds, join him in bringing out the best in our young cricketers. There is a strong association with Worcestershire County Cricket Club, who use the indoor Cricket Centre as their winter training base, which means that many of our young players are linked with the county. Most importantly, Malvern has a great tradition of Cricket that is maintained by a constant flow of excellent young players through the College.

Old Malvernian sides are consistently among the best in the country and have had notable successes in The Cricketer Cup. Strong friendships are maintained through sport from school into adult life.
